PM Modi will visit Arichal Munai Point at around 9.30 am today, which is said to be the place where Ram Setu was built. After this, at 10:15 am he will perform puja and darshan at Sri Kothandarama Swamy Temple. The meaning of the name Kothandarama is Ram with the bow. It is situated in Dhanushkodi.

What is the importance of this place?

It is said about Dhanushkodi that it was here that Vibhishana met Shri Ram for the first time and sought refuge from him. Some legends also say that this is the place where Shri Ram coronated Vibhishana.

Earlier on Saturday (January 20), PM Modi offered prayers at Lord Ramanathaswamy temple. It is said that the Shiva temple located in Rameshwaram Island in Ramanathapuram district of Tamil Nadu has a connection with Ramayana, because the Shivalinga at this place was established by Lord Sri Rama. After this Shri Ram prayed with Mother Sita. PM Modi is the first Prime Minister to visit Ranganathanswami Temple.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday worshiped at Lord Ramanathaswami temple after taking bath at ‘Agni Teerth’ beach. PM Modi, who was seen wearing Rudraksha rosary, worshiped at the ancient Shiva temple Ramanathaswamy in Tamil Nadu. Along with this, he took a dip in 22 shrines within the temple complex.

Devotees consider taking a dip in pilgrimage places auspicious and religious. The 22 shrines within the temple complex refer to natural springs and each of them is known as ‘Nazhi Kinaru’ (well) in Tamil. The priests welcomed Modi in a traditional manner.
